Early warning system not working


Most likely only a few Countries have learned from the outbreak of SARS in 2002/2003 and prepared worst-case scenarios for immediate action in case of a future outbreak of a pandemy

Similar applies to the WHO and other Health Organizations around the Globe

It appears that the WHO, as part of the United Nations, underestimated early January 2020 the danger and did not believe that the virus of this magnitude would spread all over the world and did not consider it necessary to call the highest alarm level globally.

However, on January 31, the World Health Organization (WHO) classified the coronavirus as a "Health emergency of international scope" and set the course regardless of the political goals of individual parties to fight together against the threatening pathogen worldwide.

The fact is that after a long hesitation on March 11, 2017, due to the catastrophic and devastating conditions in parts of Italy, Spain and Austria, and evergrowing infection numbers all around the globe, the WHO finally proclaimed the highest international health emergency and classified the global spread of the corona virus (SARS-CoV-2) as a pandemic.
